Description

DBVGA (or VGA Screen By Dinh Bang) rapidly renders patterns based around sets of concentric squares.

The 1.0 and 1.0b versions were released as freeware by Dinh Bang. The latter corrected an "Out of string space" error and added a few new drawing patterns. DBVGA became shareware with v2.0, when Dinh Bang and two other programmers opened Jab Software. v2.0 added adjustable display speeds and customizable text overlays, initially consisting of 234 jokes.

The jokes displayed are stored in DBVGA.DAT in an encoded format. The encoding is fairly simple though, with each character just bitshifted two positions left (i.e. A = C, B = D, etc.).

Arbitrary alternate text can also be displayed by editing the DBVGA.ADV file. Refer to the comments in DBVGA.ADV in the documentation section below for further details.
